Medusa

Open-source, composable commerce — full ownership of the stack for teams that want flexibility without SaaS lock-in.

Medusa is open-source, composable commerce for teams that want to own their stack — no SaaS fees, no roadmap dependency, no lock-in. It's a TypeScript-native, API-first commerce engine you extend as modules, with a Next.js storefront on top. We build on it for brands that have outgrown hosted platforms and want full control of the backend and the frontend.

We've run Medusa in production since 2022 and contribute to the core. Greenfield builds, custom modules — subscription, B2B, marketplace — migrations off SaaS with a fully tested cutover, and Next.js and TypeScript storefronts with real performance budgets, headless from day one.

Why DTN on this platform

Certifications and depth, not claims.

Core contributors with production Medusa deployments since 2022 — TypeScript-native and headless by default, so a composable build doesn't become an integration maze.

Questions

Common questions.

Who is Medusa right for?

Teams escaping SaaS fees and roadmap limits who have — or want — engineering ownership of their commerce stack. It trades convenience for control.

Is open-source commerce production-ready?

Yes — we've shipped and operated Medusa stores since 2022. It's a code platform, so it needs a capable team behind it; that's the role we play.

Can we migrate off Shopify or Magento to Medusa?

Yes, with a tested cutover that preserves catalog, customers and order history. We scope it so the switch is a planned event, not a gamble.

Who maintains a Medusa store after launch?

You can, or we can under a support agreement. Because it's your code, there's no platform lock-in either way.
